OpenLearning integration with HRD Corp’s e-LATiH bridges gap for training providers, enhances upskilling pathways for workforce recovery

Online learning platform, OpenLearning, has integrated with HRD Corp’s e-LATiH portal to enable trainers and education providers to offer training programs online. Malaysian training providers now have the option to use OpenLearning to design and deliver both free and paid training courses with this integration—allowing them to offer free courses for Malaysian learners on e-LATiH, and to market both free and paid courses globally on OpenLearning at the same time.

The e-LATiH portal is an initiative funded by HRD Corp as part of the Ministry of Human Resource’s economic recovery strategy to assist those whose employment have been impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. The portal gives Malaysians access to hundreds of free skills development and educational content, offered by local and international providers.

Since its launch in February 2021, over 155,000 Malaysians have registered to become e-LATiH users, with 24% of them currently unemployed. To date, over 405,000 enrolments in training programs have been recorded on the portal—on topics ranging from digitisation, language, leadership and customer service.

HRD Corp Chief Programs Officer, Rony Ambrose Gobilee, in a recent webinar urged Malaysian companies and training providers to adopt an agile approach to ensure continuity of the learning ecosystem for workforce recovery.

“Take this pandemic not as a stumbling block, but as an opportunity to build up a competent, future-ready workforce by leveraging technology, converting your current offerings, and focusing on digital enabled content."

e-LATiH is able to facilitate trainers who want to reach learners online without having to invest a high amount of capital. We encourage training providers to not only be ready with their digital content, but to park it on e-LATiH. This will enable more Malaysians to discover and benefit from free training materials, and to match their upskilling needs to the programs available online.

OpenLearning specialises in helping education and training businesses create, sell and market transformative online courses. The platform includes tools, templates and features that are powerful yet intuitive—making it easy for trainers, educators and content providers to deliver effective online courses, certifications and micro-credentials for all segments of learners.

South East Asia Managing Director, Sarveen Kandiah, says that OpenLearning is proud to support and empower Malaysian training and education providers who are looking for a solution to rethink and transform how they offer their services in the new normal.

“Since the start of the pandemic, we have seen many trainers and industry players move away from conventional training programs that are lengthy and costly. Many of our training partners have successfully modified their training programs to fully-online or blended models that suit the needs of their clients, whilst ensuring training is engaging and effective."

The opportunity here is for training providers to produce in-demand, region-specific online training content. Take advantage of OpenLearning’s learning management and authoring tools; free resources for trainers such as onboarding, workshops, course building guides and templates; as well as customer support from a local team based here in Kuala Lumpur.
